Homesick

This 'bug box' is a reflection on the complicated nature of homesickness. It features a Giant Congo Millipede and a portrait of Dom Miguel de Castro. He was the ambassador of the Kingdom of Kongo to the Netherlands in the 1640s. He was a very complicated historical figure, as an African representing a Catholic country at a Protestant court, at the height of Dutch expansion in Brazil. What did he think of their colonization project? What would he have been homesick for?
